Will Smith Admits Time Travel In 'MIB 3' Was Tricky

'We would sit around for hours trying to figure out what happens if you go back into the past,' actor tells MTV News.

NEW YORK — For "Men in Black," aliens aren't out-of-this-world enough on their own anymore. Time travel needs to be brought into the equation as well. The third installment in the star-studded sci-fi series adds that fourth dimension-bending element as Agent J (Will Smith) travels back in time to work alongside a young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save the future. It's as complicated as it sounds, not just for the fans, but for the actors and filmmakers themselves.

"You cannot put your head around time travel," Smith told MTV News on the "Men in Black 3" red carpet in New York on Wednesday. "We would sit around for hours and hours trying to figure out what happens if you go back into the past and you do something [differently]."

It's a conundrum that kept director Barry Sonnenfeld up at night while shooting the third "Men in Black" movie. "Coming up with ideas and plots and stories for aliens was easy, but time travel was really hard," the filmmaker confessed. "Every time you think you have it figured out, you would wake up at three in the morning and think, 'But wait, if I kill him, wouldn't he ....' You have to start all over again!"

In the real world, time travel is a tricky concept for "Men in Black" newcomer Alice Eve to wrap her head around, too. "[The existence of] time travel would be weird," she said. "I could go back to your childhood and change it, and then you would be somewhere else right now. You wouldn't be with MTV. Would you be happy with that?"

The answer, Ms. Eve, is a resounding no, especially since this job afforded this lucky reporter the chance to ask the infamous Donald Trump to weigh in on the time travel debate. We asked the "Apprentice" host and real-estate mogul for his thoughts on which of the two "Men in Black 3" concepts is harder to accept — time travel or aliens — and his answer was predictably priceless.

"You always have to go with time travel," he said. "We've seen plenty of aliens, believe me."

For Brolin, the answer isn't so easy. The younger Agent K said that as an actor, he's able to "cheat time travel" by spending months with characters living in different time periods. "I believe in aliens, too," he said. "They're just so much fun. I grew up on Asimov, Ray Bradbury, 'Martian Chronicles,' all of that stuff. So neither [concept is hard to believe]. I love both. I don't care if it's not true: It's true to me, in my head!"

In the end, there's no doubt that time travel creates some wacky, existential questions that can keep the mind boggled for hours — which is exactly why Smith refuses to think about it too much.

"Trying to figure out those [questions]? Just forget it," he laughed. "Just try to make it funny and don't ask."

Justin Bieber Gets His Own Graduation On 'Ellen DeGeneres Show'

Singer dons cap and gown on episode of the talk show airing Wednesday.

<P>A few weeks back, Justin Bieber officially became a high school graduate. But given that he was schooled on the road, the 18-year-old didn't have the pleasure of donning a cap and gown at an official graduation ceremony.</P><P>So when he stopped by Ellen DeGeneres' talk show on an episode airing Wednesday (May 23), the comedian attempted to rectify the situation.</P><P>Finally getting the chance to wear a gown and a custom-made cap that hovers over his hair so as not to muss it up, Bieber was handed a diploma by DeGeneres, who told the room, "Good afternoon. Today is an important day. It's Dollar Taco Day at the Warner Bros. cafeteria. We're here to honor the accomplishment of the Biebs, a great American who happens to be from Canada. Justin, you finally made it. You're graduating and I'm so proud of you. "Guess what I'm announcing? I'm announcing my tour! We have the dates," he told the room.</P><P>The Believe tour kicks off on September 29 with a show in Glendale, Arizona. Pusha T Has Become 'A Student' Of The-Dream

'I've learned so much about song structure from Dream,' G.O.O.D. Music MC tells MTV News from his studio.

Pusha T is laser-focused on his debut album at the moment, trying to craft a cohesive musical project. But if you thought the G.O.O.D. Music signee would hole up in the studio with his boss, Kanye West, think again.

Over the weekend, MTV News caught up with Pusha in Atlanta, where he was in the studio working closely with The-Dream. The two first linked up when producer RicoBeats sent one of Push's tracks to Dream for a feature and eventually collaborated on a few more things. In addition to lending his vocals to the album, The-Dream has been guiding Pusha through the recording process, helping him take his work to a new level.

"It really started with this beat [from] Rico. We were like, 'Yo, Dream would just sound amazing on the record, period.' So we sent it out and it came back so quick. Dream was like, 'Man this is one of the ones,' " Pusha recalled. "Personally, I never thought the record was going to come back that quickly. I was in New Orleans somewhere and Rico was like, 'Aye! Dream did it — he on the phone!" I thought, "OK, wait a minute this might really be something."

Pusha wouldn't reveal exactly how many tracks the two had banked together, but he explained why the R&B singer/producer is the perfect fit for this album.

"Musicality, to me in general, is missing, but [Dream] is a musician, he's a fundamentalist. I've really taken on the student role," Pusha continued. "I feel like I'm in with the best of the best. You've got Dream on one end, you've got Kanye on another end, and you can learn so much. I really look at myself as just a rapper's rapper, but I've learned so much about song structure from Dream.

'This is the most I've ever rewritten," he added. "I wrote the 'Automatic' record, sent it to Dream, and he was like, 'Aye, you rapping too damn much,' and I'm like, 'OK.' How [would you not] listen to the writer of everything? How [would you not] listen to the producer of everything?"

The-Dream was just as enthusiastic about working with Pusha on the album. "I always personally felt like he was one of the best at what he did, period," Dream said. [There's] lots of guys that are great from a rap standpoint, but in songs they're not as great. Sometimes [you need to say], 'Hey, move this part here and this is your hook,' or 'Let's write about this, or let's tap that emotion and let's not rap past the emotion of where it is.' "

For the producer, who has banked countless hits for stars like Rihanna and Beyoncé, it all comes down to focus on proper songwriting and structure. "Compare it to great people, whether it's the B.I.G., whether it's Tupac," Dream explained. "I remember in '96 ... when 'All Eyez on Me' dropped, I wanted to see the credits, and I seen DeVante [Swing's] name — I seen this R&B guy do it. If you really notice, R&B guys actually did always make the best rap records."

Luckily for Pusha, he's got the R&B maestro on his side.

"It's a lot of pressure now, I think, for Pusha to do exactly what I knew he was gonna do, which is write a song," Dream said. "Like write it as a song, not as, 'I have to battle you guys. I'm going to say the hottest line next.' "

Pusha's album is sure to make a splash when it finally drops. On Wednesday, he released the RicoBeats-produced "Exodus 23:1," which seemed to take some subliminal shots at YMCMB. Lil Wayne tweeted one simple message after hearing the song: "F--- pusha t and anybody that love em."

Are you excited to hear what Pusha T's album will sound like? Tell us in the comments!

Michael Jackson To Appear On Pepsi Cans

More than one billion cans will be imprinted with the late pop icon's image.
By Gil Kaufman

<P>More than three years after Michael Jackson's death&#8232;, the pop icon will be at the beach, the pool, the 7-Eleven and everywhere in between this summer thanks to a new deal with PepsiCo.</P><P>According to The Wall Street Journal the #2 soda company is going back to the future with a massive campaign that will have Jackson's image imprinted on more than one billion cans of soda as part of its new global "Live For Now" marketing push.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Remembering Michael Jackson - One Year Later" id="id:1642144" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Nearly 30 years after Jackson first agreed to be the voice of the brand, an agreement has been reached with Jackson's estate, though reps for both sides declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal. When Jackson signed on to shill Pepsi in 1984 he was paid a then-record $5 million. A representative for the estate said the PepsiCo campaign is the first branding deal executed since Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50.</P><P>While Jackson was handsomely paid in the 1984 deal, it was during the filming of an ad for that sponsorship that his life was forever altered. While shooting a commercial for Pepsi, a pyro effect went wrong and Jackson's hair caught fire, seriously burning his face and scalp and requiring multiple skin grafts and resulting in intense pain. It has been speculated that Jackson's addiction to pain medications may have begun after the mishap.</P><P>The new campaign is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jackson's <I>Bad</I> album. PepsiCo will start distributing the special-edition cans in China this weekend and they will arrive in the U.S. later this month. The 16-ounce, collector's-edition can in the U.S. will feature a special download code that will link to downloads of <I>Bad</I> remixes. Though TV ads will debut in China later this month, it has not been determined yet if similar spots will air in the U.S.</P><P></p>

He reportedly listed "Men's Central Jail" and his booking number in the space on the appeal document where a lawyer would normally list a firm's name or contact information.</P><P>TMZ also reported that although Murray seems to be without a lawyer, he is still in communication with Nareg Gourjian, one of the attorneys who represented him during his manslaughter trial.</P><P>"This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer," Gourjian told TMZ. "Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him."</P><P>Following the guilty verdict, Murray's lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told CNN, "What matters most right now is trying to keep Dr. Murray from taking up a prison cell in this community. That's what we're focusing on right now, and we'll deal with an appeal after that."</P><P>Murray was sentenced to four years in jail Tuesday, but due to overcrowding, he's unlikely to serve his full term. </p>

Jessica Simpson And Beyonce: From One Mommy Mogul To Another

Maxwell's mom can learn a lot from another superstar mama, Queen B.
By John Mitchell

<P>Jessica Simpson is basking in the glow of new motherhood after giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, on Tuesday, but if we know anything about celebrity moms, she'll be back to work in no time flat.</P><P>While she hasn't released an album of new material since 2008's country crossover record <i>Do You Know,</i> Simpson remains a true mogul. Her fashion line, the Jessica Simpson Collection, is the most successful ever for a celebrity. What began as a vanity line of bags and shoes has transformed into a billion-dollar brand that now also includes clothing, jewelry, fragrances and sunglasses.</P><P><CENTER></CENTER></P><P>The dueling pulls of motherhood and celebrity create a tough balancing act for a new mom, but being a mogul already is evidence enough that Simpson can wear a lot of hats. Just look at Beyoncé, another multi-hyphenate superstar with a newborn who is already plotting her return to form.</P><P>Indeed, Queen B is a perfect example of exactly how to balance early motherhood with the rigors of being a mogul. She's done things her way and is readying her musical comeback with several planned dates in Atlantic City, currently appears on the cover ofPeople's Most Beautiful issue (a covert and classy post-baby body reveal, in true Beyonc&#233; style) and has even suggested she may at some point create a line of maternity clothes for her House of Dereon fashion line, telling Harper's Bazaar late last year, "I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant."</P><P>Here are the three ways Jessica should look to Beyonce for post-baby mommy mogul inspiration:</P><P><big><b>Bouncing Back Professionally</b></big><br> Simpson's focus has switched from music to television in recent years, though she has never ruled out returning to the studio. Motherhood is a subject that has proven to be ace songwriting material for several pop divas, most notably Madonna. Madonna's 1998 album <i>Ray of Light</i> was inspired by the changes having a child had on her life, from her pursuit of spirituality post-baby to the change in her priorities once Lourdes entered the picture. The album went on to become one of her best-selling and most acclaimed, scoring five Grammy nominations, including Album and Record of the Year, and winning three awards. Its success reinvigorated the star, who returned to touring a few years later with a bang and has been on the road multiple times since, setting records along the way.</P><P>Beyonc&#233; is reportedly already working on not one, but two records, and it goes without saying that baby Blue Ivy and the experience of motherhood will be a chief topic of her songwriting. She's also set to make her return to the stage for three concerts at the re-launch of Atlantic City's Revel Entertainment Center over Memorial Day weekend.</P><P>Simpson would be smart to put all the emotions she's feeling now to good use and start penning tracks for her return to music. The very emotions she's feeling now are the things that make for the best songs, something Beyonc&#233; is seemingly well-aware of.</P><P><big><b>Working on Your Fitness</b></big><br> Jessica seems intent to make her post-baby weight loss a public affair (Get it? That song is her most underrated jam!) with a reported multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Weight Watchers, clearly taking a cue from B by keeping it healthy.</P><P>Unlike so many other celebrities, who rush hard in ways that cannot be good for them to get their figures ready for "How I Got My Body Back" tabloid photo shoots as if it were some sort of competition, Beyonc&#233; didn't appear to feel any sort of rush to get her pre-baby figure back. According to her People interview, she has relied on a healthy, protein-heavy diet and three 90-minute workout sessions per week, mixing things up by combining running, dancing and exercise ball crunches. And the results speak for themselves: Four months later she looks fantastic, if not yet back to her perfect pre-baby figure. (Which is just fine; regardless of what the tabloids tell you, it is unnatural for the mother of a newborn to look as if she never had a baby in the first place just a few months after giving birth.)</P><P>"I feel my body bouncing back," B told <i>People.</i> "Whatever was tight and muscular, like my legs, I'm seeing it come back. You just have to work at it."</P><P>And work at it is exactly what Jessica will do &#8212; just in a more public setting than B. In the scheme of diets, Weight Watchers is among the healthiest and most effective. The program helps participants lose weight by forming helpful habits, eating smarter, getting more exercise and providing support, and has proven successful for such celebs as Jennifer Hudson.</P><P>Having negotiated her contract with the company in December, she may not be taking her cues from Beyonc&#233; here, but they clearly share the same mind-set when it comes to post-baby weight loss. Slow, steady, healthy and long-term is the goal.</P><P><big><b>Creating Products</b></big><br> While Beyonc&#233; doesn't have a line of baby clothes just yet, she has mentioned being interested in creating a maternity line for her House of Dereon label. Jessica may have a leg up on Beyonc&#233; in this department, given the breadth of products that have popped up under her Jessica Simpson Collection label.</P><P>As both moms search for ways into the elusive baby market, Christopher Gavigan, who works with Jessica Alba on her Honest brand, told MTV News that he urges celebrity moms like B and Jessica to stick to what they love when it comes to branding.</P><P>"Find what you're passionate about and go do that," he advised. "You articulate that in a brand or in a way you feel from a business perspective that you feel you get your focus articulated in some meaningful or special way. A lot of it is partnerships and leveraging the greatest assets of each other."</P><P><i>What else can Jessica learn from Beyonc&#233; &#8212; or vice versa? Let us know in the comments below!</i></P><P></p>
